From Touba to Baghdad, the Mourid disciple
 

Has drawn from the Sheik, amply

 

 

From the blessings of religious knowledge;

The Faith in the teachings of Imam Al-GHAZALI,

Of the Arab Sheikh "Bamba," of Sheikh Abd al-Qadir JILANNI,

And Almamy Omar Foutiyou TALL; a great devotion.

 

As well as from predecessors in Senegambia and French West Africa—pioneers of *Darras*

And of teachings—Quranic, theological, and doctrinal—

And socio-cultural; figures such as Mame Imam al-Mahdiyou, Seydina

Limamou Laye, or Sheikh Ahmed Tidjani Sy. An enduring legacy.

 

The Mouride religious tradition, within its Sunni observance,

Unites us: from Touba to Baghdad, we share a love

For Holy Medina and Mecca, for

Tea, coffee, and life within the city and the community.

On this 20th of Safar, 1448 AH, I reveal myself more deeply as a *Talibé*

Of Serigne Touba—Serigne MountakhaMBACKE ibn SERIGNE MOUHAMADOU BACHIR MBACKE (RTA)—

And of my parents, just as every Mouride disciple of the late Sheikh Ahmadou Cheikhoune Sheikh Salih Mbacke (RTA).
